Susan Wheelan, who has been doing research in the field of group dynamics for more than 25 years, describes the fact that development of a group includes five stages. The first four stages cover the development process within the group. The fifth stage covers the process related to disbandment of the group. in this study, that is Wheelan’s (2005) Integrative Model of Group Development (IMGD). Bennis and Shepard (1956) built a sequential stage theory in the 1950s where they compared group maturity with the maturity of a person. A mature group, according to them, knows well Susan A. Wheelan The purpose of this paper is to describe some findings from an ongoing investigation of naturally occurring groups and to discuss them utilizing concepts from complexity theory.
